Reserving Actuary
Your tasks
You will support the Head of Reserving/Appointed Actuary in the reporting of the global elipsLife technical reserves and results. The role offers many opportunities to understand the profitability drivers of a fast growing company and to develop (your own) solutions to improve business steering and decision making. You will be part of an international team of actuaries.
Core responsibilities of the team are:
- Quarterly reporting of the US-GAAP technical reserves and results to senior management of elipsLife and to Swiss Re.
- Support the Appointed Actuary with the statutory reporting of technical reserves to the regulator in Liechtenstein.
- Together with Finance colleagues prepare quarterly US-GAAP and LI-GAAP figures.
- Liaise with country representatives (claims managers, costing actuaries, contract managers) to understand underlying drivers of actuarial observations
- Performance deep dives on specific portfolios, products and/or topics.
- Maintain and continuously improve the reserving system landscape.
- Regular review of reserving assumptions and prepare proposals for assumption & methodology changes to senior management.
- Prepare for the transition to IFRS-17 from a methodology and system perspective.
Your profile
We are looking for a professional, with 6+ years of experience in an actuarial costing, reserving or reporting role at a L&H insurer or in actuarial consultancy with focus on the insurance market. You hold an university degree in physics, econometrics or equivalent quantitative education. An actuarial degree is a plus. As a conceptual thinker and an expert in translating theory in practical solutions, you have an entrepreneurial spirit and the willingness to go the extra mile. You possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and you are a good communicator. You own and fully understand the figures you report. Fluency in English as well as accountability and accuracy complete your profile.
