Financial Specialist Performance and Analytics - NN

In this role you will prepare financial analysis and reports for the NN Group Management board on business performance using Solvency-II (OCG), IFRS-17 and sales (VNB) metrics. In this very varied job, you will work on multiple projects enhancing insights to the financial performance of NN Group and their business units from a reporting as well as forecasting and business planning perspective.

The salary for this position is between € 4.332,- and € 6.189,- depending on your knowledge and experience. This is based on a 36-hour work week, excluding a 13th month and vacation pay.

Your impact as Financial Specialist Performance and Analytics at NN Group

The most exciting part of this job is de multi-scope role you will have, the insight you will have in all relevant financial impacts of the Group and the close contact with senior management. First and foremost, you are an financial specialist who will contribute to the analysis of the financial performance of NN Group both backward as forward looking. In addition, you are the advisor on financial and business related matters to the business units and relevant NN Group leadership. Your contributions to the financial performance reporting are of a high level, predominantly focused on key business drivers and mainly aimed to provide clear and actionable insights. All the while, you will play an important role in shaping the scope and implementation of IFRS17. For this part, you will write IFRS17 reports for senior management or analyze business units IFRS-17 reports. Moreover, you are writing internal IFRS-17 guidance (for instance Margin Analysis) and discuss IFRS-17 figures with business units.

Our Performance and Analytics team focuses on:

  • Drafting the Quarterly Performance Report in which business performance of all NN Group’s business units is discussed
  • Drafting the multi-year business plan for NN Group from an IFRS-17, Capital Generation and sales perspective
  • Analyze financial performance metrics and challenge business units on initiatives to improve performance (for example OCG, but also expenses)
  • Perform operational consolidation on the Solvency-II balance sheet of NN Group as well as analyzing operating capital generation (OCG)
  • Contribute to strategic projects of NN Group mainly from a financial point of view
  • Compare and report upon business performance compared to plan, past and forecast for both internal and external disclosure purposes

Your responsibilities

  • You will be business unit contact for one of the Dutch business units to understand and analyze the business and challenge on business driven actions to improve financial result
  • You will perform analysis on the financial result of NN Group and its business units to determine business driven actions for improvement
  • You will write financial reports for NN Group senior management on Solvency II (Operating Capital Generation), IFRS-17 both backward looking and forward looking
  • You will be involved in the IFRS-17 project to further implement IFRS-17
  • You will maintain and update Solvency-II consolidation tools together with the team members. In the quarterly reporting periods you are performing the consolidation of the Solvency II Balance Sheet and Own Capital Generation of NN Group
  • You will be involved in other projects. Examples of these projects are to draft the business plan for NN Group or to further improve management reporting processes

Your colleagues

You become part of our 12-person team Performance and Analytics. We are quite an international team with six different nationalities. In this role you will be part of the subteam focusing on NN Group and the Dutch business units consisting of 6 persons headed by the Manager Finance Business Performance.

Every Thursday, we work at the office; the other days you decide yourself, because that depends on your cooperation with other colleagues within NN.

The department Performance and Analytics is led by the Head of Performance & Analytics and directly reports to the Chief Financial Officer of NN Group.

Who you are

As a driven person, you have the mentality to get things done and to connect with others to succeed in your role. We can describe you as a team player who is able to collaborate effectively with both colleagues in (Group) Finance and Risk, colleagues in the Dutch business units as well as senior management. You also have:

  • An academic master’s degree in Econometrics, Actuarial Science, Finance or equivalent quantitative degree
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience gained insurance and experience in Solvency II and/or IFRS-17
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills to challenge and explain Solvency II and IFRS-17 results and identify business drivers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (in English) and the ability to communicate with and report to senior stakeholders
  • Very good command of Excel
